VATICAN RADIO AND
THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS
Vatican Radio is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the International Catholic Association for Radio and Television(UNDA), the International Radio and Television University(URTI) and the Union of African National Radio and Television (URTNA). Vatican Radio collaborates with the members of these associations and with other member radio stations throughout the world.
The International Relations Office is charged with overseeing these complicated interrelationships, which might call for providing technical and editorial assistance to journalists and technicians on assignment abroad, or offering international exchanges of both live and recorded radio programmes. This applies to all kinds of programmes religious, cultural, news, or musical such as the New Year's Concert broadcast live from Vienna.
At times, radio stations request programmes that are "made to order", according to the language, subject, and length of their choice.
The international Relations Office also represents Vatican Radio at international meetings, conferences, contests and festivals, and in some cases, organizes conventions in the Vatican.
